Title: Boat rolling in Australia
Post by: fritz on November 10, 2007, 19:45:27 PM
Just caught a wee bit on TV last night of a sprint boat leaving a track and rolling over a fence, Does anybody know anymore about that? At first I thought it was Clark taking his new boat for a run but then they said it was Australia

Just on a serious note, it is fun having a bit of banter about it when you see things like that on TV but in reality if it was somebody that we knew it really would be a sickening thing to watch. And in reality the public probably sees the odd thing like that on TV and probably assume that it is a dangerous sport and it should be banned

[/quote       This happened at the Melton track in Melbourne.  350 class boat.  The burns were partly due to the valcrose cover strap over the release buckle  melting onto the harness.  They could not get to the release buckle!!!!!     Lots of ripping noises were heard in the pits after they found out.

In the 10 or so years I have been involved with Jetsprinting I have seen some serious crashes and yet the most serious injury I have seen is a broken ankle and in another crash jarring on the drivers spine but all turned out to be ok.

I think it is a testimant to the sports officials, safety crews and the Track owners/ builders. As there is no other motorsport that has such a clean record.

I look forward to seeing heaps more crashes ( as that is what keeps the crowds coming back to watch) and hopefully there will be no serious injuries
