Title: Presidential Update July 2019
Post by: Ross Goldsack - JBNZ President on July 15, 2019, 14:18:11 PM

Congratulations to the West Coast Branch for organizing a really relaxed and enjoyable celebration of their 50th anniversary.  Amie Thomson and Adam Cassidy should be extremely proud of what they have achieved in the short time they have been involved in the West Coast Branch. I get the feeling that we are only just beginning to see the results of their dedication.  As we often see, great results like these are achieved by a team and this is certainly the case on the West Coast where Scott and Vicky Price and other committee members are working together to inject youth, enthusiasm and life back into the West Coast.  Well done!
A special thanks to Steve Woodside for his tireless work in making this conference run smoothly and successfully.  Steve goes far over and above the call of duty of what a “National Administrator” role would normally involve, not only on Conference weekend but every day. Jet Boating NZ is extremely fortunate to employ Steve, and I don’t say that lightly.
This Association relies on the voluntary service of a huge number of individuals, be that National Executive, Rivers Group, Branch Chairs and Secretaries, Branch Committee, River run organisers and the like.  This year we recognized with National Service Awards, the outstanding service of three individuals.  David Street for his Services to Administration at a National level.
Brian Eccles for his services maintaining and improving access to rivers for jet boaters.
David “Rusty” Wright for services to JBNZ radio communication at river racing events.
Congratulations Chaps.  I know that you have never been motivated by awards and only by your community spirit and love of jet boating, but it is still very nice to see your service recognized and for you to receive these awards as a token of our appreciation.

The National Executive farewells Garth McMaster, Doug Qualtrough and Gary McGregor and welcomes Len French, Ronald Clearwater and Dallas Shaw.  Doug and Garth have both served for many years and have left big boots to fill (or in Doug’s case - big jandals), Gary has made arguably the largest improvement we have seen in the JBNZ database and the way we can communicate.  We will continue to rely on Gary and hope to see him back on the National Executive when time permits. It is interesting how, when gaps are created by the old guard stepping aside that fresh faces rise to the challenge.  Garth, Doug and Gary, thank you very much for your huge contributions! And Ronald, Len and Dallas, Welcome to the team!
; I am thrilled to have been elected President of Jet Boating NZ, a daunting task but comforting to have such a strong team around the table supporting me. Our team for 2019-2020 looks like this -
Dallas Shaw Vice-President and taking on the Manufacturers’ Portfolio.
Paul Mullan as Immediate Past President, and holding the Portfolios of Media and External Relationships.
David Street with Portfolios of Finance, Contracts, and Constitution.
Paul Vernal will now take over the National Safety officer portfolio along with Magazine.
Steve Kirner assisting Paul Vernal as South Island Safety Officer.
Ross Bailey will continue with Membership Mentoring.
Ronald Clearwater is taking on the substantial role of Rivers Chairman.
Len French is tasked with North Island Safety Officer and a new portfolio of Branch Liaison.
Also great to have Phil Kiesanowski remain as our Patron.

An enormous vote of thanks to Paul Mullan for what has been a truly stellar three years as President.  Paul your loyalty, passion and dedication to all things jet boating is an absolute credit to you and something that you can reflect on with pride.  Your work ethic and patience will be relied on and may be severely tested in the role of Immediate Past President, during my term.  You have set the bar extremely high in what is expected of a President and I trust that with the backing of the whole JBNZ team I can continue to meet the standards you have set.

I pride myself on being approachable and having an open ear, so please, if you have any comments, questions or feedback, flick me an email or give me a call - [email protected] or 021 755 092

Regards
Ross Goldsack
