Title: Digitised Jet Magazine
Post by: Ol Wise Owl on August 10, 2020, 09:06:07 AM
Has/Will the National Executive consider to make available online the Jet Magazine to members of the association as with the trend today you are able to logon to most daily papers and some magazines to View/Download to a Tablet Notebook Etc. Footnote At the 50th anniversary of the association there was a CD given out of all the previous magazines

No way! Keep it paper so you can own and read it with a candle when the power goes out and the internets down! My greatest joy is thejet mag arriving in the post...I keep one in each car to read if i have to kill time. I think Being reliant on data reception coverage and power to read a book is dumb!

How's this for an idea, members get their's as part of subscription, print more copies of the mag and have them on sale in selected boating/sports type stores, then do a digital version for non subscribers where you can pay to read the current one online, then after 2 or 3 editions it becomes free, similar model seems to work for "Skipper" magazine, just a thought.

you need a very large advertising base to start giving away free magazines on line... for the mags that do it, their business model is advertising. historical on-line versions for members is a good idea in my view, like the CD, but would absolutely have to 100% protect JBNZ member subscriptions from being eroded.

Brilliant idea Rivers.... doing this will expose JBNZ activities to a wider group and if we combined it with "come for a push and some Jetboating days organized by our district's we might get some good feedback and new members....

I don't mean or suggest we give the mags away, print extra and sell them in appropriate stores, $10 maybe, then charge the same for current one online, reduce to $5 once next one is published then its free online only after the 3rd issue, 9 months later, works for Skipper magazine. JBNZ members get theirs as part of subs, ahead of  the rest.Could be worth a look at.

My thoughts were some join just for the magazine, if it?s online for considerably less that?s a lot of revenue
