mof's looong weekend - brass monkey jet boating
«

mof has a extra long weekend planned, starting this thursday on the upper murray river in aus. we have an epic turnout already with 12 boats confirmed for attendance and an open day at phil-on marine in tumut on the saturday. a cold snap is on the cards with a half meter of snow forecast to 800 meters
looking forward to picking up wee gobbles, which after 500 odd hours will finally have a reverse bucket that works well!!
it will also be the maiden run of matthew murrays new beast, a 600hp sprint motor coupled to a new 8.5" scott in his family boat, crazy bugger who loves his chevs.
stay tuned for pics

Since Goose is reported as having had a big swim in the Murray , I have found a new avatar for him.
( PFD1 saved the day apparently)

The missile has a new engine , test running here at the racecourse.
There was a problem with audio levels on my cameras microphone, you need to crank your speaker volume to max to fully appreciate the over the transom headers........

Sunday
The Goose , now 'dried out' from all manner of liquids , gets loose in a side flow on the Murrumbidgee.

Doing our bit for clearing feral imported trees - Willows
This chute could not be navigated on the way down with the Willow in place. Fortunately the boys got out the bush saw. Just minutes earlier they depressed an electric fence that was across the main stream. Ryjet and Wayne are handy crews to have around.
Even the local farmer came down on his quad bike to offer advice.
Plan B for getting home was a 40 foot slide across the shingles.

Launching on Sunday at the Farm, into the 'bidgee', highest I had seen it . Normal launching place was covered in water, had to use the high water ramp.

great long weekend. 7 hour drive to the mountains, however 11 boats launched on the friday! a BIG turnout, we booked out accommodation in 2 towns and everyone had a great time boating the various rivers and creeks in the area. it was quite cold with snow down to 600m. I will load some pics and a trip report to our club web site
www.jetboatingaustralia.com
when collated and written by trip leader.
