Yep sure was an awsome days boating. Have done this run twice before and made it to Mossburn ok but not this time. Was about 2k's short by the turn around time of 1pm. Couple of wee stucks with one involving some willow trimming to get away again soaked up too much time. Plenty of good touches for the day. After lunch the downstream run went ok and back on the trailer by 2.45. Apparently of 32 odd boats only 5 made it to the top and the last boats got off the river at 6pm. Thanks to the Southland JBA organisers for a great day.

Sometimes you are ahead and sometimes you are behind. The road is long and in the end the race is only with yourself.

Well stripped unit today after Oreti run, steel 4 blade bullet has had a hammering and 2nd bronze blade has bent back one stainless tip and another is badly cracked. Surprising it wasnt vibrating that i noticed. Never known a river to shag blades like the Oreti does. C"" C"" C""
