A couple of JAA boats will run the iconic Snowy River during the programmed environmental release.
PM me if you want trip details.

We came, we saw, we learnt.
It was a case of we should have been there yesterday. Fridays flow was 4000MLD. The day we were there (Saturday) was 1000MLD so no real surprise.
We did launch Wayne's Tinny Jet into the pool above the Dalgety weir .

View of the river above a very wide rock garden above the home pool.

We walked up from the home pool and inspected the rock garden for a way through . This flow, on the RHS was the only way through through the rock garden.

Final picture, this was just below the previous photo .
This photo is typical of the long weedy reeds that populated the river , at this level we may have encountered intake blockages from the vegetation.
Overall we learnt, there is launch site that is useable at all river heights and that you need about 3000 MLD to make it boatable.
A quick review of the history of releases showed that the max flows usually occur late in the working week! Prior flows touching 7,000 and 10,00MLD have occurred.
The day ended with Wayne and crew driving up to the snow fields and I dropped into Jindabyne and had lunch with a friend.
The Snowy River will have to wait for another visit.

We missed the peak flow last year, but tomorrow should be a big day.

If it doesn’t move and it should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn’t move and does, use the Duct tape.
