Aussie- Penrith to Warragamba dam
« on: June 30, 2013, 23:37:37 PM »
I was having a look at the level at my local ramp today, Penrith next to the M4. Saw a boat being launched and a quick chat. Can't remember the name, secretary of JBA with his son, who was it and how was the river? Little ally boat with LS1, red and silver.
I'm hopeless with names  >>@

Nick, that was Chris. It's a great run, I had my little boat up there last time Warragamba was spilling - the 2nd time, not the massive 1st flood.

I drove over South Creek and Hawkesbury, both very enticing, but boating not on the menu this weekend.  C""

This footage is Nortons Basin, just upstream from the junction with the river from Warragamba, on that occasion.

Hi Nick,  yeah, that was me.  MOF is great with names.  I'm not very memorable but at least MOF always remembers me.   You seem to have a memory for boat specs though!!!    If you need any help with your project, just ask.      I did two runs up to the dam and Nortons's Basin then back. First with my son, Rich, then took the missus up.   She wasn't quite sure what to expect but ended up wanting more.   The water flow was a fraction less than MOF's video at Norton's Basin but still fast.

Nice pics Chris, looks like you had a good day out, all that rain has made for some interesting boating, hope to go out myself on Wednesday for a run, Paterson or the Hunter depending on the flow. B))T

I was up there with very low flow many years ago with Gobbles, it is a great place to visit and so close to Sydney, easy access etc.
I miss going out like that, hopefully one day I will come into enough cash to try again.
Had a trip out Bathurst last weekend and did a Dune buggy tour out of Hill End, and shock the female part of the family both loved it so it has got me thinking again about the options.
Spent some time on the bank of the river at Sofala as well looking at the rapids and wondering just how boatable that would be up there! certainly more than ankle deep, and thought of where Goat goes so should be achievable.
Anyone up for the challenge?
