Awakino River Run 20th June
« on: June 09, 2015, 14:04:18 PM »
How long is it since you boated the Awakino?

Wrap up warm and come and join us. If you are not a JBNZ member, that is not a problem, but please talk to me first.

AWAKINO RIVER RUN
WHEN:  Saturday 20th of June
WHERE:  Awakino boat ramp, behind the pub.
START:  10am launch 10.30am set off
BRING: Packed lunch and warm clothes
WHAT: Without doubt this is the best river in the Taranaki area, yet it is underutilized by Jet Boaters. In lower flows the trip is cut short by a rapid that requires about 1.1 mts to get over, in this condition the shorter trip is offset by really cool shallow water boating up through the gorge. With water levels higher the river is somewhat transformed with small rapids, pressure waves and logs making the trip exciting

Anarchy- sounds like a plan, we will talk soon.

Jeff B- It is only uplifted to the SH 3 bridge at Mahoenui. That is the 4th road bridge. Why don't you get some mates together and meet us there? If you can't find any mates you could always bring Karl and Mohawk  scr

Choice, some fresh northern blood by the sounds.
If the flow is less than 1 metre then a small boat will get you further, if it's above 1 meter the river barges will do fine.
