This build is awesome. Great to see something different!
Is the outboard a 2 stroke or 4 and what weight is it.

It is a Merc 150 hp 3000cc 4 stroke engine weighing in at 220kg... with an outboard jet it is equivalent to about a 120hp outboard

A little more progress....

I am hoping the slight tunnel at the front (For the dredge suction) will also help control the sliding these hull shapes are known for.

Progress

Next job is to tidy up the trailer... the boat will sit 150mm lower than shown, making it easier to launch.. then WOF and off to the lake for a first run.

Wanted to try on the lake first, to get a feel for the handling... I would hate to approach a corner and not...

It floats and it goes really well in a straight line...

But alas it slides too much in a corner so I will need to add strakes. I was thinking two HDPE bolt on ,strakes either side nearly square profile, 40mm wide and 40mm high... about 2m long... does anyone have any thoughts they would like to contribute on suitable strake size, number, length and profile, and maybe how far back towards the transom they should extend?

Sits nicely in the water. Well done.  b> b> b>

I've got no idea on strakes however.

Nobody seems to have any real suggestion, and neither do I....so I will go from the centre line out each side with a 20(h) x 40(w) strip then further out a 40 x 40 strip of HWPE 3 m long bolted on.... and leave space for a further 40 x 40 if needed near the chine.

Then add a good dash of "Hope this works" as I approach the first corner... jaw

I would try putting some turned down chines on the outer edge of the bottom, cut out of some 50x50x6. Am I seeing correctly , is the bottom flat right to the edge, i.e no chine???

The last photo further above on the 31st October is bow on upside down... it is pretty flat, a delta bottom with a 6 degree dead rise.

At the moment there is 135mm x 10mm uhmwpe all along the bottom of the chine and 40mm up the side (to protect the chine because it often sits against rocks while I am dredging)..

Are you suggesting a 50 x 50 angle with the point downwards along either chine... I can see how that could help.

Well that was great... made some mods which worked, took some photos to post, only to find the memory card in my wallet instead of in the camera...  >>@

However it worked... 2 x 3 m lengths of 40 x 40 HDPE on either side of the bottom along with moving LCB fwd maybe 300mm has made a big reduction to the sliding in a turn.

After the first run, I found I did not need the power steering so I have removed that weight and complexity (Yes you can have power steering on a tiller steer) As well as less sliding, it is now also much quicker turning.

I had a good run up the river... certainly runs in much less water than the prototype set up old J83 hull

I do need to lower the motor maybe 15mm as in rougher water (still calm water by most stds)the jet occasionally sucks air.
