Building a new jet boat info
« on: October 04, 2017, 12:38:42 PM »
Hi Guys

This is my first post on this site.
I have been looking around for the last 6-8 months for a jetboat. Im after a Hamiltion 151a highside / 161 or an Alexcraft.
Nothing has really taken my fancy and the only one that did went quickly.

My question is this. To build a new boat what are the costs we are looking at as second hand seem to be getting up there for what they are and condition they are in.
Im a ford guy so want a Ford 302 fuel injected motor. or 351.

And finding all required parts. Who is the best company to speak to about manifolds, heat exchanges, tanks etc

Would someone be able to supply a list of everything required to build from scratch so i can write up a budget .

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

Call me if u want. 0276501060.
I did a fuel injected v8 lexus and 2 stage bort bare alexcraft hull 4.4m also built alloy trailer. Did all work myself apart from fuel tank and alloy folding. Not much change outta 40g. Would suspect it would be arround 60 if i paid someone to do all the work. But im reall happy with it and wouldnt change a thing about it. If you cant fabricate yourself then better to buy one allready built as things add up real fast.

Trailer 8g
Hull 14g
Unit 8g
Engine marinised 10g
Steering and fuel tank n sand trap 3g
Seats 3g
Guages and morse cables 1g

Thats at 47g and theres more parts to a boat than that.

Hi John.

I actually just finished reading your build. Looks awesome! Job well done.
You have a brand new boat for that and people are out here wanting 50k for an old one.

It seems you rate the alexcraft hulls? I have been told by many they are pretty nicely done.
Where did you get all your off the shelf parts? Or did you just shop around more so?

I may have to get in touch at some point.
Thanks

I bort most parts from wayne at alexcraft, 3 reasons. He supplied me great advice that never was wrong and the parts he stocks he actually used in his own boats. And his prices are competitive. He doesnt stock junk. And he isnt afraid to give you good constructive criticism that may save you money or help you do it easier and stronger.

I really rate the alexcraft. Ive had 4 boats and driven about 10. The best hull ride and all round ability by far and it comes painted with a floor and jetblock dash and glovebox.  Also a fibreglass deck makes it quiter and lighter. And if u do crash it and it smashes up thats what insurance is for. Id buy another alexcraft in a heartbeat and I wouldn't even look arround.
