Waimak race

There is a race on the Waimak this Saturday, the upstream run starts at 10am and the down stream run starts at 1pm.

as I understand it upstream at the ramp and downstream at the gorge.

Went down to the pylons to watch, sure gets the blood goin when they go past.   The leader had a strange arrangement on the bow, a vertical rudder about 18" high, like a plane tail, and about a 2 foot wing either side.  This assembly was right up the front and was moving like it was being controlled. Probably something to help stablise the tunnel.

Where we were was just by a skinny bit but they could chose to go round the long way, and it awsome watching the straightliners go straight thru, your average boat wouldn't get thru but these guys just straight over the top, into the deep stuff again and away

Sounds great, like dennis always said the quickist way between point A and point B is a straight line.
