About Paul:

Lynda and I have two adult children, both living in Christchurch.  I am the youngest of four boys, all who have had boats at various times.  I was on a ski week in the 1980's with one of these brothers when we had a down day in Queenstown.  Back then you could hire a Jet Boat from a company called U Drive Jet.  I think it was a Jet 20 or similar, we had a ball blasting around the lake and doing our first Hamilton Spin by accident.  Both of us bought boats soon after.  My brother a Jetsetter 460 wtih a 2 stage France jet and myself a CeeBee Marine Sniffy.  I have had quite a few boats since and boated most of the South Island rivers, but, sadly very few in the North Island to date.  I enjoy the competitve side of Jet Boating, especially the Family competition days, managing to win the National Rally three times.  This also led me to become a navigator with Mark Agnew as we managed 2nd in FX Class in the 2013 Worlds.  Moving to CX for the 2017 Worlds where we kept it clean enough to come in 1st in class.  I have managed to turn my sport of Jet Boating into a business when I became a commercial operator in 2000.  Now with close to 12500 hours I still enjoy tour boat drivign but would like more time for recreational boating.  I get a lot of fulfilment taking out first time Jet Boaters and showing them what a Jet  Boat can do.

Passion:

I do like the 'older stye of boat' which led to my involvement in the Heritage Trust.  I enjoy the stories and the provenance of older boats.  I also enjoy teaching people how to drive boats and seeing them grow in confidence.
