Resides:
My wife Anna and I, along with our three daughters, live just north of Geraldine on the inland scenic route. We both come from farming backgrounds (living and working) but 10 years ago changed things up a bit and now own and operate Clearwater Firewood supplying firewood and contract processing across Canterbury. We are also the owner-operators of Braided River Jet Boating, a commercial jet boat company offering customized jet boating experiences, workboat and environmental monitoring services.
First Boat:
Hamilton Mk1 141a
Current Boats:
As above
About Ronald:
I grew up in Southland and it’s Dad’s fault that I enjoy jet boating. He has an Impala and we’ve had it in quite a few corners. Our favorite areas to go are backcountry - Upper Rangitata, Ahuriri, Upper Rakaia, Oreti ... actually, we just love boating everywhere. We enjoy the positive people we meet and the places we go, and the ‘refreshment’ getting out on the river gives us.
Passion:
I’m up for a new challenge (some call it a mid-life crisis) and have stepped up to chair the Rivers Group. The group is made up of very passionate jet boaters who are all willing to lend their skills and time for the benefit of the wider jet boating community. The Rivers Group mandate is to maintain access to inland waterways for motorised craft. My role as chair is one of delegating and coordinating, so that we get the right information, to get the right people, at the right meeting and get the right representation - pretty much business as usual for the Rivers Group!
Living on the inland scenic route means I have the unfortunate privilege of watching some of you driving past with boat in tow. So, if you want to wind me up, just toot as you go by! I would!
