Title: 10 foot mini jet build, what motor?
Post by: aubleak on January 16, 2016, 18:44:59 PM
hey guys, first off, awesome forum here! lots of great info here,

so im going to build a mini jet boat for up here in alaska, and am curious what direction you guys would point as far as motor choice.

the boat will be 10 feet long with a 4.5 foot beam. i have access to a complete seadoo 155 horse 4tec ski, and a complete seadoo 951 2 stroke ski. id love the reliability of the 4 stroke, but am concerned with the weight. what do you guys think? i looked thru the forums but never really found any minis with a 155 horse 4 tec or one with a 951.

not looking for huge top speed, more a slow plane and shallow draft.

thanks for all the help guys!

You pretty much have all the points i would have said. So you will need to compromise one way or the other. If it was a 787 i would pick the 2 stroke but a 951 seems to be a little less reliable so evens it out for this application imo. If you went for an 11ft hull i would say the 4tec hands down.
