Title: Scott 912 Yanmar LV370
Post by: LBD on April 10, 2021, 16:39:04 PM
Some of you may have read the NZJBA Magazine about the repower... happy to answer any questions.

It has worked out very well and we have ordered components to repower the second boat.

I think it was a Hamilton factory Steyr Diesel and 212 package... It would be interesting to see what weight the design was specified for? And what the in the field operating weights ended up being? Extras added on sight etc and Max load limits?

The original 211 units were behind the 502 big block Chevs.... it was the safety motivation that saw the petrol engines removed and replaced with the Styers

Originally the boats were considerably less than 2000kg... it was not until we got to 2250 kg bare weight that it started to become a real problem but even lightship we would need to operate near full engine power to get up and srtay on the plan with 7 on board and no cargo.

Good news, the second engine and jet are on site... that will be my late July project...

No knocking the Steyrs and 211s...they performed well,  just not big enough for the job.

So an update... 947 hours since install, and all is well.

Everything is running good and reliable... Yanmar LV 370 motor (4.5L Toyota V8 diesel) just had its 5th service...
