The bullet nose looks like a single stage coarse 120-130 hp [ looking at the rear blade overhang on the boss ] Check Is the shaft hole the same dia if small dia it is the single stage impeller . The 103348 [ 22-23 degree pitch as sold from hamiltons ] but maybe this impeller has been repitch from a hj106 std 19 degree you can check by taking a profile of the blade turn the full hub upside down on the table [ the back of the blade hub is hollow facing up at you] [ holding a sheetof paper against the outer blade and tracing it and use a protractor measure the degree

Thanks for that kim, that would be right 130hp,was the single stage setup for 3l essex fireball, the 103348 blade is bigger shaft 1 1/4, none of these are going to be of much use, too coarse for a 3 stage and a 308 holden! Can these hamilton bullets be safely bored to 1 1/4? or is it best to go with a newer 3 blade bullet

Normally a stock holden
[email protected]
rpm would be 3 x Jh106 impellers as std , We use to buy the 100hp and the 130hp[coarse impeller and machine the shaft and keyway to suit , when machining you loose a bit of meat due to shaft dia but we use to spacer either side of boss with sleeves . The 100hp we would use up to 200hp in 2and 3stages and the 130hp with 350 chevs and 3stages , Most of our application were in skiboats , excellent accleration ,no cavitation when pulling skiers ,These where in days when there were only hamilton blade available . Today you have a good selection to choose from The 3 blade seem to be performing well see if you can borrow one and try it !

Good to hear this thanks kim is a 308 holden only 185hp? Seem to hear different figures for the early red motors 230-240 was more on the mark? or where holdens dynometers just a little too optimistic

We use to run a engine Dyno for the V8s normal and marinized engines hence the early holden and chevs , fords we had true figures , the holden V8 marinized red motor averaged out at 185-190 hp @ 4000rpm under full load yes if you allow the motor to rev out to 4600rpm higher hp was achieved but when installing into a ski-,fishingboat we wanted to match the impellers to the best available torque of the engine for best allround performance and fuel ecomny ,hence the holden stock 185hp no cavitation problems when pulling skiers if we tried to obtain 4600rpm to gain the extra hp we would have to enlarge the nozzle or change impellers .but slippage would occur , Note our boats ski and fishing boats are usually heavier and larger than the average kiwi riverboat with the same setup .
