SR20DET manifolds

I have a SR20DET, its in a 3m hull and gets a tad hot under the bonnet..... It has the standard exhaust manifold and turbo into a large bore which exists out the back of the hull.... its all wrapped but still puts off some impressive heat.... it does have water into the exhaust after the turbo.
I was thinking...(sometimes dangerous) what is to stop me building a water jacket around the exhaust headers between the head and the turbo to cool them off? It would be a tight job but I think it could be done without having to resort to a log manifold.
Has anyone tried this? Would it effect the turbo performance cooling the exhaust air? Would it be worth the hassle or is the turbo still going to be so hot it won't make much of a difference anyway?
Look forward to hearing some peoples thoughts....
Cheers

when I had mine I used the std heat shields round the manifolds and made a water jacketed riser exhaust starting from the waste gate and water entered further down as the manifold dropped down into the boat behind the engine...
maybe you could use heat wrap on the manifold before the turbo

The manifolds are all wrapped now along with the exhaust after the turbo. I have the hump in the exhaust after the turbo to avoid the water back flowing and the water is post the hump. I'm not really sure how much difference the water would make as its straight out the back by then..... I don't think you could inject it much earlier as it might get into the turbo....
Its pretty hot, like melting anything that touches it hot

you may need to water jacket from turbo to over the hump and the inject after the water jacketing
