Impeller comparisons Hamilton versus Kawasaki Jetski

Was interested to see how the impeller power demand would compare for different sized pumps.

Good info Karl, the 15f surprises me in white water, I reckon it handles it as well a a Hamilton single stage cou, don't listen to Matt he's flat out and I'm right on his hammer. pop

Hey Dicko, is your boat a N/A 15f ~160hp?

Karl, where did the numbers come from, or is it an rpm-cubed extrapolation once the blade KW rating is known?

Yep that is pretty much how i  produced these.

Worked backwards from the Kawasaki published maximum power/rpm values using the rpm cubed relationship.  I setup an excel ss with the rpm-cubed = power relationship and then adjust the impeller kW rating until the curve goes through the desired point i.e. 120hp/6750rpm. This method fits the Hamilton published curves bang-on.

Good info and certainly interesting. Can someone tell me where nozzle size comes into the equation. It might be silly question, if so Im sorry but just trying to get a clearer understanding. eg for the 753 with medium pitch impellors revving out to specific revs for given power eg 250hp. Wont the revs achieved also vary based on the nozzle size youre running?
Steve.

there are also other variables, eg impeller design, std impeller vs bullet, vs 3 blade etc.  Eg I'm running a flopro 3 blade up front, std rear, and 112mm hole, no slip even with a grill full.

Impeller pitch (for a given blade design) is the primary variable and the nozzle is secondary. The Hamilton installation instructions show the effect of nozzle size and it does shift the rpm curve up or down a bit but only + or -  a few hundred rpm.
