Wannabuildajetboat
« on: June 16, 2014, 22:19:43 PM »
G'Day,
Another newbie wanting to build a boat. Have just purchased a GP760 pump unit,($200) dont know if thats a good or bad thing. Need some advice from the experts. You Kiwis are awesome. For a first build will probably get a set of plans from one of the many available, probably jetdesign. Was thinking of running an ej20 or m15, whatever is cheap and available at the time. Boat will be used for river fishing, full of submerged logs and gravelbars.
Already have one of those other boats that needs 1m of water to go fishing in, unfortunately where i live (NSW OZ) the river height is goverened by irrigation needs downstream not my need to drown some bait. Considering it's a fishing boat and not a race boat what size boat would this combo suit? Was hoping for around the 4m mark. Does a 2 stage pump put out more power?(wouldnt have a problem adding a stage to the unit). If my choice of jet pump is way off the mark then i will be happy to just build a boat to suit it and go flatout up the Murrumbidgee, just for fun.
                                                                                    Cheers.

a few of them are not jet ski powered. the key with your power plant will be to keep it light as possible

Gidday 2Easy, good to hear of another keen Jetboater in NSW, I currently live in the Hunter Valley and have a 11ft Attack Marine with a 15f n/a, there are about 4-5 similar builds in NSW and a few in QLD.
Jet Design build a good boat and have heaps of experience, can also recommend Bill Roberts from Attack Marine in NZ and Tuiman who is a sponsor on the Web Board.
Jet Boating Australia are also a good contact over here and worth joining, if you are keen maybe able to organise a run in a little boat.

If it doesn’t move and it should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn’t move and does, use the Duct tape.

G'Day,
Thanks heaps for the replies, much appreciated. Have read a lot of heemi.v8 posts, 13 ft sounds good. Have a mate who imports Jap motors so thought i would go and annoy him for awhile and weigh a few different ones to see what is available. Dicko i might have to take you up on the offer of a joyride as i have never been in one as yet. Do have plans for a second build along the lines of "clappy's" boat, ls1 powered. Cheers.

Ok picked up a suzi m15a today, now to get it going and connected to the unit. What thickness material for an intake?
Any info on how to make this motor run would be appreciated, would like to keep injection and factory ecu if possible.
Is this the best option or is fitting a dizzy and carbies the way to go? Cheers.
