To many turns lock to lock. Better off to use the setup designed for the Sportjet, comes in both 135* and 210* lock to lock

That $270 is quite expensive - considering you need to pay another $50 too to get the wheel..

Burnso offer a better option:

Which is $250 including wheel..

Those kits can be used quite well (- I have for the last 12+ years).  On the larger jets, you can connect the cable onto the jet closer to the pivot, this 'ups the gearing' and reduces the amount you have to turn the wheel lock-to-lock.  On the ski pumps doing something similar is tricky, as the cable often connects directly onto the nozzle (- so you need to connect closer to nozzle pivot).

See picture below, to explain the connecting closer to the pivot - see the multiple holes drilled in the arm.  The current setup (2nd hole) gives just over half a turn lock-to-lock with ~40mm total cable travel.

A simple kart type system is fine if you use a 40 series push pull cable and make sure you have stops on the column  b> .
Wire rope and pulley is by far the best  , rose jointed systems are good too .
Anything from 120 - 180 deg lock too lock is ideal . Any more sucks.

I have been using 40 series for steer and rev and a 30 for trim. Never had any issues . Light and simple...... keep steering and rev same length incase your away from home and need too use rev cable too repair steering.

I got cables from teleflex in auckland but their prices have gone up and apex in hamilton were actually pretty good depending on the length you wanted. I also got aspare . off ebay pretty cheap too.

In above pic you can just see reverse attatched behind the trim cable.
Keep the cables high and tucked away where trees cant hook them  ;)

do  you have the bulk head at the other end or did u just go for the cc? I figured the bulk head would be good for setting up the steering on a kart like set up?

are they just those electrical cable things in the transom?

have you had any issues with the ends of the cables clogging ect with them outside the boat?

also do you know where I can get those ball joints in stainless or brass that aren't going to cost me 60 buks a piece?

sorry to be a pain!!!

No problems at all with the cables jambing . I use clamps at either end on all the cables and electrical glands where they go through the transom.  bulk head fittings are better IMO because of the extra adjustment but I stuck with what I had. Cant help with the ball joint thingies , but ebay would be a good place too start.
