Bamboozling lexus problem. Need help please l
« on: June 17, 2017, 18:51:50 PM »
https://youtu.be/CSI_DyqmObo

Ive replaced relays, wiggled all wireing. Checked all connections.  Checked all fuel lines
Runs fine under wot and accelerating. Only does it when you pull some gees (corner) left or right
Not a ecu powerfault as i had laptop pluged in to check this and dash stay illumited
Its a full cut out and then back on good as gold and is doing it on que. like will always do it on hard left or right turn

My thought is that the ryco filter water bowl thing is letting air in and this is getting picked up on hard turn, so i disasembled the filter and bowl and cleaned and reasembled and no change. Are the ryco water trap filter crap?

Theres got too be air getting in because my fuel pump shouldnt make those loosing prime noises.

Buggered if i know. Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated, surely someone has had this happen before. Thanks guys

Fuel pickup in the tank loose ? or too short letting it pick up air as the fuel slops around. No baffles in the tank? The tyco filters are fine I think, and I can't see how the filter would let air in only when turning. Mine certainly doesn't cause any trouble Sounds a bit strange  C""

Tank has 2 front too front too back baffles, and a 100mm x100mm sump on the bottom and a fuel diverter helps feed the sump and the pickup is from the bottom like the fuel line plums to the bottom from the outside. Tank is built by alexcraft and its a work of art so i dont think its that.

My next step is im gonna turn off the fuel tap at the bottom of the tank and connect air compressor to outlet of fuel filter and see if it leaks at all.

If you put a fuel pressure gauge on it the will eliminate the fuel system

Had the similar bubbles in my fuel bowl not long ago with my ls1. When it was priming before start up it would sound like it was sucking air somewhere. It would also drop a little power just over mid range. Be fine WOT though. I went round everything, and tightened the custard out of everything. Still did it. Undid everything and used a liquid thread lock/ thread sealer. Still did it. I read somewhere about the ryco filters and efi set ups and they said have in going into the filter with the in arrow, and use the other in arrow as the exit line. Its stopped my issues. Maybe worth a try. Youll just have to swap the outlet line off the filter to the other 'in' port. So not a big job or option to try

fit a fuel water separator cartridge filter that has no glass bowl (looks like a oil filter), Mercury Marine brand or similar.. should fit the existing alloy fuel filter manifold if your are lucky.

i found the site glass type sometimes draw in air, probably around the rubber gasket..

have used these for many years, solved the same issue, kept a spare in the boat too.

That'll mean that the fuel is not following through the filter cartridge, so absolutely no filtration is happening what so ever!!!

Fuel filter was full of alloy filings causing bubbles. Also intake was particularly blocked too. Still run fine. Just fuel pump made funny air drawing noises. All fixednow

Have seen this happen a few times, fit out done by a reputable boat Builder. Owner bought a new fuel pump because it was making a funny noise. Turns out the pickup and hose fittings were full of aluminium drilling swarf.
Some nitwits drill all the holes in their tank after it is all welded up which makes it hard to get all the filings out.

I still wonder how effective these are on an efi setup running a return system? The fuel is pumping through here fast and I wonder if it has time to separate properly?????

or cut the holes for the filler through the topsides over top of the tank with an open inlet neck.... all the fillings fall straight in
