Can someone please shed some light on the relationship between delta and gunal ? I'm making a start on designing & building a 4 mtr alloy hull at work and my question is wether the delta is parallel to the gunal ? Measured a mate's boat & it was 1.3 degrees different. Do I start with a constant vee hull shape, then slice the bottom off starting at the front of the vee and straight line it to the stern dependant on the width of delta at stern ? Sorry for the confused query, just want to get it right from the start. Looking at 15degree dead rise boat for general river work. Thanks

Most jet hulls run a constant deadrise, so would be 15deg at transom and 15deg at front of delta.
So no, the bottom of delta is not parallel to the chine. If you did make it parallel you would have variable deadrise....the wrong way, shallow at the bow and steeper at the back.
Some hulls run a variable deadrise, 15 at transom and 17-18 at front of delta.

Thats how i do it, create a constant dead rise vee hull then cut the delta out as you describe.

Guys, note original question was 'delta to gunal', not 'delta to chine'. Some gunal (gunnel) lines go up hugely at the bow - especially skiff/fishing layouts.
