Savage heat exchanger q's

Hey guys have a query regarding a savage heat exchanger I have kicking around. Wanting to use in on my new setup. Honda j30a v6 engine with colorado jet. Exchanger is 300mm oal and 80mm diameter approx, would this be suitable for this engine? Any help much appreciated.

Too small I'd say for a 220-240HP engine.
A longer unit (- core is 80mm x 300mm & 370mm oal), originally came from Hamilton on the 150HP V6 Ford engines.

As Paul says it might be a little small.
But as you already have it I'd try it, just make sure you allow enough room to mount a longer one if required. Most boaters don't run WOT for more than a few minutes at a time (did I say most 😁)
A 100mm x 400mm Savage cools 500hp no problems

Maybe it ,s just down to where it will be used as seems huge differences between say warm thermal river like the waikato compared too say the waitaki. Perhaps I should stop drilling holes in the thermastats as its hard to get up to 80 degrees celsius while in the South Island.

And one more thing It,s a good idea to take the end caps off and clean all the tubes out of stones and pumice etc .This increases the heat exchangers efficiency alot and even farmers can manage it so can,t be difficult

Be aware that the 'through bolt' is often brass/bronze and can seize onto the nut(s) quite well.  This can mean the thread under the nut gets destroyed during removal.  It's quite possible that you may have to buy half a metre of stainless (or whatever) threaded bar to replace it.
