New Trailer
« on: November 07, 2019, 20:59:30 PM »
Hi All,

I want to buy a new trailer for an old 44, the original 1977 one has almost succumbed to rust.

Want to get an unbraked tandem axle with a budget of around $4k.

Any recommendations where to go?

Cheers,
Tim

I have to say, multi-axle trailers are a bit of a PITA when maneuvering.  With a single axle, the rotation-centre is in the middle of the wheels (- which works fine).  With multi-axle, the rotation-centre is still in the middle of all the wheels, but because the axles are forward & behind that point, you're ripping the tyre sideways when you try to turn the trailer (which is really difficult).  Multi-axle trailers only want to roll forward and backwards - not turn corners.

I.e. unless you have a tank of a boat, then a single-axle is really a good choice.

Just my thoughts, having both single and multi-axle trailers.
