Here it is in 1968/9.

That's me over 50 years ago!

It was a Hamilton ex-demonstrator originally built with a crusader v8 and a long stator 2 stage 2b Explorer unit, but sold with a mk3 Zephyr 6 in it.

It was sold around 1972 to Invercargill , where we believe it ended up at DOC, before a local gentleman bought it and owned to for many years, before it came up to Oxford around four years ago.

Original deck was nautalex vinyl, but will end up being either either varnished or solid glass, if I can find one!

Great worthwhile project. So good to follow the history of a boat.

Gathering of bits process going well!

2 Mk3 Zephyr 6 motors acquired - 2nd one was like new inside - 1st one was pretty worn but would be usable if needed, ( had a Lees Marine manifold on it, which seems at least as good as the Savage Marine factory one)

Ive extended an early Col junior I had with a long stator sourced via this website ( Thanks Cam!) which will install in the same place as the original 2b Col explorer.  It's only running a 1" shaft with one impeller, but I reckon it'll work ok with 100hp Z6.

Have gathered most missing hardware ( mainly from Keith the Legend, at Rakaia Marine) except the seat frames , and have cleaned and prepped everything ready for refit.

Dash is ready to refit too - Sat in front of the TV until the whanau couldn't stand it any more!!
Looking at getting steering wheel centres remanufactured - Any one else needing one?
