All painted and pretty.... sort of. As I'm a bit rough on my boats I didn?t want to fill it with bog, so just did the bare minimum of filling and kept it thin
Nice from afar but far from nice.

Looks a darn sight better than mine- very inspiring! What primer did you use (was it an etch?)?

No etch required  :o

I used PPG 3450 2K HP Epoxy primer and 2K Caprithane top coat.

The paint supplier told me that with these Epoxy primers no etch coat is required. I hope it was good advice! The data sheet backs it up and states that the only prep for alloy is to wipe down with 50:50 meths/water.
I might have looked a bit doubtful, as he dug out an email to the company that paints Shotover boats, time will tell.

This project is certainly going in stops and starts..... hopefully that habit doesn't continue once it's up and running.
Anyway the grill and plastic are done. I've used tapered grill bars with tapered gaps, known by industry insiders as 'the magic grill' 😁
Laminova intercooler that's tucked inside the inlet manifold is pressure tested and the turbo dumpy is made. 👍

The plastic is recessed in under the outers so the only bolts are around the grill and the flashing up the front on the bow line.

Ok ok I know it's been a while since I updated this thread.
Boat has now had it's first couple of water tests.
Setting up the ECU was a bit of a trial for this first timer, my laptop was too modern and I the end I purchased a $100 TM special that is running Windows 7 and drives the year 2000 Haltech software.
Then I blew a handful of ignition coils before jeffB pointed me in the right direction.... I got it running eventually.
Now in the water and going like a rocket. At this stage I'm running 8psi boost and getting 91kph average.

Actually was a couple of separate issues..... C""

The first coil popped when I left the laptop plugged in to the ECU while the engine wasn't running. I had the Mrs standing by to film the joyous occasion of the first start  ::) only smoke a loud pop and then my quiet sobbing. Turns out this old technology grounds all the sensors when plugged in so if you're fiddling with settings while engine is off you unplug the coils and injectors.
So after sorting that minor hiccup and Jeff shipping a resupply of coils it was take 2....
More smoke, popping and sobbing
This time the cause was my vice grip battery terminals provided poor earth to ECU.
I sorted that and yet again running low on coils I did what most jet boaters do, crossed my fingers and turned the key  ;D
All sorted now.

This boat building would be easy as if you knew what you were doing.

Handy to know about unplugging coils and injectors with old Haltechs as I have one sitting on the shelf hopping to find a home soon. b>
If boat building was easy it wouldn't be half as much fun c0H
