from what ive seen or read, they are either purpose built 1:1 or you can buy/make a AT jet unit that turns the other direction and use no gearbox

what ? what is your output rpm ? WHat engine ?

No boats run a 1:1, the casale is a reverser to run RH blades behind a T58. The GE SDG box is a 3.25:1 unit that many have run for years on T58s, they are hard to kill. WIll give you a 6200 rpm output behind a good 8f engine and 140 Mph in a good hull.

The last one I installed we had made in NZ but it was for more hp ( 3000 )

The T58 is by far the most common in racing, due to both price / availbility and a fear of any genuine innovation in the sport, the first few turbine boats built by Tim Harding and Rob Krunyk went faster than most of the T58 powered boats in NZ now, Id love to see more types of engine in there, from and engineering standpoint the development with these boats stopped years ago.

The T58 output spins left at 19600 rpm at full noise, the GE aircraft reduction box ( SDG ) has 3 gears so output is left, The Casale goes in behind that and has 2 gears so spins right. I beleive Tim and Rob first installed them both to change rotation and to give some ability for gear changes. ALso there maybe werent left rotaton blades available then.  There is a US made box with 2 Gears ( Burly ) so output is right but they seem to vary in reliability.

The little Rolls ROyce turbine we put in the KJet boat has an integrated gearbox and spins right at 6k rpm so bolted right to a 212 then 309.

The big Russian engine me and Regan put in his boat spins right at 15k rpm output, we had a NZ box designed and built with 2 gears and still use a modified left rotation blade and bowl, this was both to keep the box small and because he had plenty of left blades from the T58 in the boat before that

Hopefully CAE is planning on trying something new like people used to do
