Easiest option to check exhaust flanges is to get a gasket.
See pic the L15a compared to J30/35 they are quite different, I seem to remember the R18 somewhere between the 2?
I didn't know the v6 had different exhausts? All the ones I have done I used the same laser cut flanges, je0a4, j30a5, j35a8, j35z6 ??
Maybe John dropped engine and bent some studs, why exhaust doesn't fit?? ???

I have had a good read through Mohawks build whick made it look like a good option, does Sean Cooney have a build thread? I have 2 options, just weighing up pros and cons, and what parts I have about. I plan on using a zjet hull, 3.2 with ski unit if I go for carbs, and 3.6 with colorado if I go for a turbo setup, plan on using a saco impellor for either option. I will put up a build thread. picking up the engine this weekend all going well. Sorry to hijack your thread. Cheers again.

Do option 1.  If ya do option 2 get more displacement. Eg K24 or J30a

And then we make them welded, we want to try cast, from Ali-art.

It is clear, but the diameter of the exhaust from the head there is suitable for the J - series?

Guys, what do you put on your engine control unit, how does it work according to VTEC, does the valve turn on like on the stock ECU, or has the fuel map been rewritten in it and the valve turns on at the same rpm?

I run a link atom ecu, some run haltec, Vtec can be configured too come on how ever you like.  I set myne to come on at 4900rpm or 75percent tps  and over 70degrees engine coolant temp.  I found with a j30 ive done that bringing vtec on earler doesnt do much and thats about where it is configured to come on in a car

Lots of welding
Really rate the Topwell welders off alibaba, this will be the 4th hull welded up with it and 3rd trailer, was about 4k landed purchased early last year, put about 4-5x big rolls of alloy wire thru it.  Found that using 1.2mm wire is a must, with 3meter torch and graphite liner, way less birds nest compared too using 1mm wire.

I tried the 8 meter push pull torch that i purchased with it and it was poohs on 1mm wire.  Never tried it with 1.2mm wire with it,
I found the push pull gun was just too aquard, inconsistent and gumby to weld with, just binned it and made a crappy trolly out of an old engine stand so i can get the 3meter torch into hull and right up the nose.

Migged most of trailer.  Tigged some parts

Be carefull with you exhaust ... i had trouble with the motor sucking water back up the pipe at idle.. i moved the inlet down stream 3 times till it finally went away .. the l15 appears too have the same issue , probly due too cam overlap..
My suzuki was the same and had no issue ... my exhaust water was entering about 25 mm below the riser too start with , then i moved it 50 more , then 100 more down stream .. ....
