Hi mate. Been following your jetting post and saw this come up. Can I suggest you look at a QFT Slayer 450? They are a good carb, just don't have the following yet, and some say have some advantages over Holley (although Holley now own them, like they own most performance stuff).
The vac secondary 'timing' for example is tuned by a screw, not by having to change a diagram spring. All Holley jets work in them and they are they same footprint/will bolt on where a Holley does. I have one on my 1uz and it's great. Try ProParts in Taupo, $645 ex GST.
2nd hand carbs are hit and miss.
1 - you have to pull the bowls to see what jets are actually in it.
2 - if it's been sitting for ages it should really be rekitted.
3 - if its had heaps of use the shafts could be worn.
Holley 390s are $$$ new so makes them exxy second hand.
